and Attention

Imagine someone so desperate for attention that they are constantly performing, hoping someone, anyone, will say "I see you. You matter." There’s a raw vulnerability there, almost a quiet ache beneath the showiness. It’s sad because their energy, which could be spent building themselves up or connecting meaningfully, gets drained trying to chase validation that’s never fully satisfying.

It’s not just loneliness; it’s a kind of silent panic—an unspoken fear of fading, of being forgotten. And even when they get attention, it’s fleeting, leaving them wanting more, which just deepens the sadness. That is Donald J. Trump.

This is so painfully obvious, I am not even going to present an argument. I am just going to provide you with the following list of...

Things Trump has put his name on:

1. Major buildings and cultural institutions

  • Donald J. Trump United States Institute of Peace
  • Donald J. Trump and John F. Kennedy Memorial Center for the Performing Arts
  • President Donald J. Trump International Airport (Palm Beach)
  • Large Trump banners and branding on federal buildings in Washington, D.C.
  • Also asked for Penn Station, Dulles Airport, and the new Washington Commanders Stadium to have his name

2. Government programs and initiatives

  • TrumpRx - A government website for discounted prescription drugs
  • Trump Accounts - Government savings/investment accounts for children
  • Trump Gold Card visa - A $1M–$2M immigration program for wealthy applicants

3. Military projects

  • “Trump-class” battleships proposed for the U.S. Navy

4. Currency and symbolic items

  • Trump’s signature on new U.S. currency - first time ever for a president
  • Commemorative Trump coins and gold-themed collectibles promoted by supporters

5. Immigration / identity branding

  • Trump Gold Card - physical card displaying his image

6. Large building projects associated with him

  • The White House ballroom project replacing part of the East Wing
  • Developed the design for a giant arch to build in DC

The conclusion is unmistakable. Presidents usually wait for historians to decide their legacy. Trump appears to be carving his in real time. What could be a louder cry for attention and legacy than that?
