We need to talk about the "Blue Wall." These are states like Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin that are traditionally Democratic-leaning states. hey are often depended on for a Democratic victory in Presidential elections. That’s how they got their nickname.
But when Hillary Clinton ran in 2016, and when Kamala Harris ran in 2024, that wall bled red. In between Clinton and Harris, when Biden ran for President, it was blue. So what happened?
Most people might say it was Trump's popularity but I would like to put forth another theory.
When a woman runs for president: the Blue Wall bleeds red.Once is a fluke. Twice is a pattern. If this is true, we need to face the brutal truth. These key states—the ones that decide elections for Democrats—just aren’t ready to elect a woman president. Not yet. I thought we were ready. The Democratic party thought we were ready. But we weren’t.
And now, with democracy hanging by a thread, we simply can’t afford to get it wrong again. This isn’t about giving up on women in power. It’s about protecting the country now so that we can build a future where women can be, and often are, President.
But there is some good news. I know SO many of you wonder how and why Trump ever got elected President. Well, if this theory is correct, then he never would have if not for chauvinism.
Trump never would have won any election running against another man.And I think that bears out in the election with Biden. Chauvinism gave us Trump. So chauvinism will have to get rid of Trump. A man will have to run for the Democrats in the next election.
No, I’m not abandoning the dream of a woman in the White House, I’m preserving it. Let’s win now. Let’s survive now. Then let’s break the ceiling, for good, once America is safe for democracy again.
